Key Accomplishments
- With funding from three major Boston foundations, completed a five-year strategic plan in 2006
- In 2006, completed management of a $5.3 million project to bring utilities (power, water, communications, wastewater disposal) to Peddocks Island, the site of a planned family eco-camp and conference center on the site of an old fort
- Secured funding for a three-year branding/marketing campaign (being designed now and to be rolled out in spring, 2008) to promote the Boston Harbor Islands national park area
- Sponsored and organized 45 days of free family programs on Georges and Spectacle Islands in 2007
- Currently managing the design process for a $4 million Harbor Park Pavilion visitor contact station to be located on the new Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway
- Brought 3,000 Boston-area school children out to the islands as part of an experiential science curriculum project, and another 5,000 families and kids from community centers to the islands during the 2007 summer season
- Successfully staged the 3rd Annual Boston Harbor Islands Regatta (115 competing boats in multiple classes, most from local sailing clubs) in 2007
- In 2007, managed 22 private events on the islands (for example, corporate outings) and more than 100 public trips to Little Brewster Island, home to Boston Light, to raise funds for the park
